Northeast of Durango, sheltered in a pristine mountain valley 8,000 feet above sea level in Southwestern Colorado, are the fabled mountain waters of Vallecito Lake, one of the largest and most beautiful bodies of water in Colorado. It also may be one of the best stocked lakes in the state. Recently stocked by the Department of Wildlife with over 45,000 Rainbow and Brown Trout, you will also find Northern PIke and Smallmouth Bass, Walleye and Kokanee Salmon. Anglers should find plenty to reel in at the Annual Vallecito Lake Chamber Fishing Tournament on: May 30-June 1, 2008.
The Annual Fishing Tournament has prize categories for Rainbow and Brown Trout, Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass. There are Prizes for everyone...Shoreline, Small Fry, Junior and Lady Anglers all get a chance for prizes. Our one of a kind Grand Slam Belt Buckle is the prize the "big boys" desire most. The Fishing Tournament begins on Friday evening with Registration and Appetizers, Saturday all day fishing with Fish Fry in the evening, more fishing on Sunday morning and concludes with Awards presentation at 2 p.m. Make it an exciting and fun weekend as a family, do some serious fishing and enjoy the great food.
